Powerball Jackpot Reaches $1.4 Billion After 33rd Straight Drawing Without a Winner

Introduction

The Powerball jackpot has reached a staggering $1.4 billion, the largest jackpot

in the history of the game. No one has matched all six numbers in the past 33 consecutive drawings, which is the longest losing streak in Powerball history.

The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10:59 PM ET. Players

can purchase tickets for $2 at any authorized Powerball retailer in 45 states, Washington, D.C.,

Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. However, even if you don't
win the jackpot, there are still nine other prize tiers that players can win, including prizes for
matching just one white ball or the Powerball.


The $1.4 billion jackpot is for the annuity option, which pays out the prize over 30 years.
 Players can also choose to receive the cash option, which is a lump-sum payment that is
 typically about two-thirds of the annuity value.

If there is a winner of the $1.4 billion jackpot, it would be the largest lottery prize

ever won in a single drawing in the United States. The previous record was set in

January 2016, when three Powerball tickets split a $1.586 billion jackpot.

The Powerball jackpot has been growing steadily since the last jackpot winner on

August 3, 2023. Players have spent over $2 billion on Powerball tickets since then,

hoping to win the life-changing prize.
